| A small pink-haired girl was an orphan in Kusajishi, the 79th district of Northern Rukongai. She had no name or parents, or memory of anywhere other than where she was, and had the appearance and mentality of a toddler apart from her utter fearlessness. Never having known somewhere other than the second-most bloody and disreputable section of the area dedicated to non-shinigami souls, a place where a baby like her being stepped on and killed was not uncommon, blood and death was all she had seen or known. Until, that is, the day when she encountered the person who would become the center-point of her existence. From the 80th district, the only one with conditions worse than her own, came a man whose sword was stained with blood as he cut down the chaotic world around her. He sat down, and, crawling toward him, she touched his sword, the blood of those he had killed covering her palm. Maybe he was impressed by her lack of fear, but the man asked her name. Realizing she had none, he gave her the name of the only person who had been important to him: Yachiru. From that day onward, Kenpachi has been everything to her, and she supported him and worked to become stronger alongside him, his lieutenant, as he became the strongest Shinigami in Soul Society. They are the Captain and Vice-captain of the 11th Division of Shinigami, a division focused on combat and embodying a stubborn will to fight. |
